Glasgow Police Museum gets National Museum Accreditation
On 4 October 2018, Museums Galleries Scotland announced that The Glasgow Police Museum had been awarded Full Accreditation by the Accreditation Panel of the Arts Council of England appointed by the UK Accreditation Partnership.
It is a baseline quality standard that helps to guide museums to be the best they can be for current and future museum users.
Whilst the administration of the museum was to a high standard, being awarded Full Accreditation required a full year of work by the museum staff to achieve the required National Standard in:
- how it is governed and managed
- how it cares for and manages its collections
- the information and services it offers to museum user
This achievement, together with the charitable status of being a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (2015), raises the profile of the Glasgow Police Museum to a high level of governance and public expectation.
