Inspector William Winship

William Winship joined the City of Glasgow Police in February, 1947.

He served in several divisions and progressed through the ranks to that of Inspector.

During his service he took a great interest in the Scottish Police Federation and held many important positions of office.

In 1970, he was awarded the British Empire Medal for Meritorious Services to the Scottish Police Federation.

He retired from ‘A’ Division, Strathclyde Police, on 6 February 1977.
