On 10 June 1970, Constable Ian Harris was on foot patrol along with Constable Jerome Cant when their attention was drawn to a man who was armed. They were successfully in arresting the man without injury.

Constable Ian Harris, was born in Glasgow and joined the City of Glasgow Police. He was stationed in ‘C’ or Eastern Division. As a result of the incident, he was awarded the British Empire Medal for Gallantry and the Glasgow Corporation Bravery Medal.

Constable Jerome Cant joined the City of Glasgow Police in 1968 and was stationed at ‘C’ or Eastern Division. As a result of his bravery at the incident, he received the Queen’s Commendation for Brave Conduct and the Glasgow Corporation Bravery Medal.
