Sergeant Robert McTaggart was an early member of the City of Glasgow Police Sub Aqua Search Unit. He took a keen interest in the safety aspects of this hazardous job and was asked by the Home Office to write a safety manual for the UK.
In 1975, he was honored by the award of the British Empire Medal.
